On January 31st, 2019, Hill’s Science Diet notified clients and veterinary hospitals of a voluntary recall by Hill’s Pet Nutrition for 14 prescription diets and 11 regular diets due to potentially elevated levels of Vitamin D caused by a supplier error. Hill’s noted that in most cases where a patient had been affected by one of the listed diets, a complete recovery was expected after discontinuation of feeding. The affected diets included only canned canine products, which likely would have been purchased between September of 2018 and January of 2019.
On March 20, 2019 Hill’s Science Diet released an expansion to their list of diets voluntarily recalled due to the potential for elevated levels of vitamin D from one of their ingredient suppliers.
Some of the diets listed may have been sold here from September 2018 – January 2019. If you have any of the pet food listed, please bring it in for an exchange. Click here for the list: Hills-Diet-Recall-Expansion
