To help ensure the safety and welfare of your pets in a scenario of something unpredictable happening to you when you are not at home, we recommend to keep in your wallet an emergency card that states that you have pets at home. On the back of this card, you would write down emergency contact numbers including the phone number of your Veterinarian . We hope that this card never has to be used but in case it does, this alert could help save the lives of your pets that are at home. This card can alert those listed that you may not be able to be home to care for your pets. We have these free cards in our office that you are welcomed to pick up.
Another recommended tip is to place a sign on your windows at your entrance and exit of your home. This is an alert to the emergency response team that you have pets in the house in case of a fire or other emergency in your home. This will help ensure that they can find your pets by marking the types and quantity of pets you may have.
